The Penn State Alumni AssociationWhat’s been happening: Shortly after graduating from PSU in 1989, I obtained my first permanent appointment with the federal government as an accounting clerk. A few months after that I entered the Department of the Army's accountant intern program, which lasted for 3 years. After that I worked for 9 additional years for the federal government, at various Army installations, as an accountant. I then obtained a discontinued retirement in 2002. In the meantime, I had re-affiliated with the military (WVANG), and spent an additional 6 years in service. I then retired from the military in 2004. Meanwhile, on the civilian front, I joined the National Wildlife Federation shortly after retiring from the federal government as a civilian. I worked for them directly for 4 years, 3 in telephone sales and 1 in customer service. I then worked an additional year for the company that had purchased their merchandise catalog. After leaving the new company in 2007, I took a job as a finance deputy for Berkeley County Clerks, where I still am today. My wife and I will celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary in April, and our son James is getting married in August. |
